Specialist Surgeon | Full-Time or Part-Time | Sydney, NSW

About MediPaws

MediPaws is a newly established purpose-built specialist and 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital, located in Leichhardt, just 10 minutes from the Sydney CBD. MediPaws was designed from the ground up with advanced diagnostics, purpose-built, state-of-the-art facilities, and a genuinely collaborative specialist team working under one roof.

We are a progressive, vet-led hospital, which means clinical excellence is not just a value we talk about; it's embedded in every decision we make.

The Opportunity

Due to the continued growth of our hospital, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Specialist Surgeon to join our team on a permanent basis, either full-time or part-time.

This is a rare opportunity to join a hospital at an exciting stage of its development, where your clinical input, surgical interests, and professional ambitions will genuinely shape the service you work in.

Our Surgical Environment

  • Three purpose-built theatres, two with views of the Sydney city skyline
  • 5T MRI
  • Nuclear medicine service supported by one of the only veterinary-commissioned SPECT/CT’s in Australia
  • Karl Storz minimally invasive endoscopic equipment
  • All brand new surgical kits and instrumentation
  • In-theatre C-arm

We believe in supporting our surgeons to do their best work so if there's something you need that we don't have we'll get it.

Your Clinical Environment

Our hospital supports collaboration, peer discussion, clinical research and continued professional development.

We like to encourage expansion and development of special interests. Ideally yours would complement and expand our current areas of focus which include:

  • Joint replacement (hip, elbow,ankle)
  • Osseointegrated amputation prostheses
  • Biofabricated tissue
  • Minimally invasive urological interventions
  • CT and endoscope directed BOAS treatments

Our clientele reflects a high proportion of insured pets with engaged, committed owners, meaning your cases are well-supported, and the decisions you make clinically are rarely constrained by financial limitations.

Why MediPaws?

We’re a hospital that invests in its people and its patients. We are committed to continuous improvement, with new ideas not just welcomed, but actively encouraged.

You’ll enjoy genuine autonomy within a collaborative framework, working with an experienced multidisciplinary team while having real influence over how the surgical service grows.
