Specialist in Small Animal Surgery I Kensington/Kew, Inner Melbourne VIC
Advanced Vetcare is a specialist referral hospital providing 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care with three hospitals in Victoria. Our centres are well-equipped with Specialist Surgery, Anaesthesia, Medicine, Oncology and 24hr Emergency Care services. Our practices are located in Kensington, Kew, and Geelong — with this role primarily based in Kensington and Kew. Opportunities to work from Geelong are also available for interested candidates.
Each centre benefits from 64-slice CT, comprehensive in-house clinical pathology, a wide range of endoscopes, new digital fluoroscopy, digital radiography and high-level ultrasound machines and easy-to-use cloud-based pacs software.
We manage a high and diverse caseload of complex and rewarding cases, including the ability to perform minimally invasive cardiac procedures and interventional radiology procedures. Our core mission is to provide referral services in close partnership with our valued referring vets.
We are a growing, independently owned referral centre committed to delivering outstanding, collaborative veterinary care in a practical, and empathetic manner, whilst maintaining strong communication with both pet owners and referring veterinarians and a healthy work-life balance. We also offer access to an Employee Assistance Program to support mental health and well-being.
The surgery department works closely with our specialist internal medicine and oncology services and is supported by a 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care service. The successful applicant will join a dynamic and highly collaborative team that currently includes six registered Specialist Surgeons, two registrars, two residents, and six interns. We are looking for a specialist surgeon who can work well with other surgeons in a large team, but who is also comfortable with being the only specialist in the clinic on some days. We are a hospital that enjoys teaching interns and residents, and we foster a culture of ongoing learning.
