We are now seeking a Locum Small Animal Surgery Specialist to join our high-performing surgery service on a flexible, short-term or medium-term basis.
As a Locum Surgery Specialist, you will:
- Manage and perform advanced surgical procedures, including orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery
- Work alongside our surgery specialists, surgery interns, and ECC teams
- Support case discussions, inpatient care, and collaborative clinical planning
- Contribute to a positive, team-driven environment with open communication
Optionally participate in mentoring or teaching depending on your availability.

- Dr Christine, Head of Department Emergency & Critical Care Specialist. Her special interests include complex trauma management, sepsis, transfusion medicine, respiratory physiology and emergencies, including mechanical ventilation
- Dr Kathryn, Small Animal Internal Medicine Registrar. Her interests include minimally invasive procedures and techniques, gastroenterology, immune mediated disease and endocrinology.
- Dr Merrin, Emergency & Critical Care Specialist. Her special interests include Emergency soft-tissue surgery, Mechanical Ventilation, communication, leadership theory, and mentoring.
- Dr Alasdair, Small Animal Surgery Specialist. His special interests include cranial cruciate ligament rupture (TPLO), lameness cases, complex fractures, and hip replacements and micro/nano hip replacements.
Requirements
- Board-certified Small Animal Surgery Specialist (ACVS/ECVS), ANZCVS Fellow, or residency-trained surgeon
- Eligible for veterinary registration with the AVBC (limited registration considered)
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to team-based care
