About the hospital

ARH Brisbane, a specialist and emergency hospital at Sinnamon Park in Brisbane’s west, opened 8 years ago and has grown steadily since. Our purpose-designed state of the art hospital offers specialist services in small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and surgical and medical oncology, in conjunction with an after-hours emergency service. Facilities include 4 operating theatres, digital radiography, CT and MRI scanners, arthroscopy, fluoroscopy, endoscopy and an in-house diagnostic laboratory.

About the internship

Interns work under the guidance of our small animal surgical specialists assisted by experienced nursing staff. Interns also have close involvement with our other professional services, including specialists in anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging and critical care.

Interns are expected to participate in daily rounds and weekly journal club or case presentations. They are encouraged, if eligible, to work towards completion of the ANZCVS small animal medicine membership examination.

The position includes 4 weeks of annual leave and 1 of week study leave with a CE allowance.

Requirements

Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in QLD, hold a current radiation license, and have excellent communication skills and work ethic as well as a strong knowledge base on which to build. Clinical experience is essential.

The internship will commence in January 2026 and is for 12 months with an option to extend to 18 months.
