Small Animal Internal Medicine Intern

Are you passionate about the intricacies of internal medicine and eager to enhance your diagnostic and treatment skills?

We have an exciting INTERNSHIP opportunity in our Small Animal Internal Medicine team.

This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals with a strong interest in small animal internal medicine to start or advance their academic, research, or clinical careers in this field (e.g. residency). You will gain exposure to a diverse range of internal medicine cases while working alongside experienced specialists.

The Internship

This is a one-year, full-time clinical position, starting early September. However, for the right candidate, the start date can be negotiated for a later time. The primary objective of the internship is to broaden your knowledge and hands-on experience in small animal internal medicine. As an integral member of the Internal Medicine team, you will work alongside board-certified internists as well as the Urgent Care team and other specialty teams, e.g. Small Animal Surgery and Diagnostic Imaging. Daily responsibilities will include participating in the small animal internal medicine service and providing collaborative care for patients in the clinic. This will encompass supporting in-clinic patient care, assisting with the anesthesia and preparation of internal medicine patients, and helping with consults and discharges.

About You

The Ideal Intern: We welcome applications from qualified veterinarians with prior referral or specialist experience (e.g., rotating internship) as well as those looking to advance their careers in a referral or specialist environment. The Intern can expect comprehensive support and instruction, which includes participation in journal clubs, film readings, and other educational opportunities. A proactive approach and a strong desire for further specialisation are essential. We are also planning for provisional internal medicine residency programs in the future, pending approval.
