Resident in Veterinary Dermatology | QLD
Join us as a Resident in Veterinary Dermatology and train in a specialist-led, supportive environment focused on your development and long-term career.
Animal Dermatology Specialist (ADS) is seeking a motivated veterinarian to join our team. This is a rare opportunity to undertake specialist training within a well-established and expanding dermatology practice, under the supervision and mentorship of a dual board-certified veterinary dermatologist. The training program will also be supported by a secondary mentor, a board-certified veterinary dermatologist within the ADS team.
The residency offers a pathway to a long-term specialist role within ADS, supported by ongoing mentorship and professional development within an experienced dermatology team.
The Role
As a Resident in Veterinary Dermatology at ADS, you will gain exposure to a diverse caseload, advanced diagnostic and treatment approaches, and a collaborative team committed to clinical excellence and professional growth. You will be involved in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of dermatological conditions primarily in dogs and cats, including allergic disease, chronic ear conditions, infectious and inflammatory skin disease, and referral-level cases.
This is a full-time, three-year residency based primarily across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with occasional opportunities to support selected regional Queensland services.
Your training will include:
- Structured supervision and case discussion with a dual board-certified veterinary dermatologist, supported by a secondary mentor within the ADS team
- Progressive responsibility in case management
- Exposure to a broad caseload across multiple locations
- Participation in case rounds, peer discussion, and clinical learning
- Involvement in research and scholarly activity aligned with residency requirements
You will work across specialist hospital environments and selected general practice settings, including Veterinary Specialist Services (VSS), one of the largest multidisciplinary specialist and emergency hospital networks in South East Queensland.
Clinical environment

- Allergy Testing and Treatment: Intradermal airborne allergy testing, immunotherapy and rush inductions. Bee and wasp venom testing and desensitisation

You will be supported by an experienced nursing team with a strong background in dermatology, contributing to efficient case management and high standards of patient care.
