The Opportunity
At ACES we have an exciting opportunity for a vet with a keen interest in Cardiology, who wants to advance their skills and knowledge in the medical and surgical evaluation and treatment of cardiac patients, build on their echocardiography, ECG and thoracic radiographic skills and assist in cardiac interventional procedures.

The successful applicant will be required to assist in the day-to-day cardiac case load Duties will include reviewing and summarizing referral history, observing and learning all aspects of the cardiac physical exam, echocardiography, ECG and Holter placement, writing ECG, Holter and thoracic radiograph reports, assisting with diagnostic testing, sedation, blood collection, IV catheter placement, BP monitoring, drug calculation and administration, assisting the preparation and anaesthesia of cardiac interventional patients, assisting with interventional procedures, client communications, assisting with treatment of hospital patients, assisting in the admission and discharge of patients in hospital.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong animal handling and general veterinary clinical skills
  • Exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written English
  • Ability to work independently and in a close-knit team
  • Have a strong work ethic, be reliable, proactive, adaptable and show initiative
  • Have a love for both pets and their owners
  • Have the ability to remain calm and show compassion in stressful situations
  • Be comfortable and confident working in the fast-paced environment of a specialist referral and emergency hospital

To be considered you have:

  • Ability to be registered to practice as a veterinarian in Western Australia.
  • Completed a rotating internship through a university internship program or a large multidisciplinary specialist hospital.
