Emergency and Critical Care Internship
Are you looking to further refine your Veterinary skills and knowledge in emergency and critical care, or move towards specialization? SASH Gold Coast is excited to offer a 12-month ECC Speciality Internship for the right candidate!
About SASH:
The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) is the largest, privately owned network of veterinary hospitals in the Southern Hemisphere, offering multi-disciplinary specialist and emergency services across multiple locations in New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. At SASH, we are committed to providing exceptional care and service to pets, their families, and the veterinary community. This is an exciting chance for you to be part of the next group of Interns in our new, purpose build hospital, SASH Gold Coast!
The Internship:
This prestigious program will provide you with an opportunity to work alongside our experienced specialists and emergency clinicians, providing care to our patients and their families. This program offers a structured learning opportunity, providing you access to a varied case load, advanced equipment and imaging facilities, and the support of the wider SASH team. Clinical shifts will be roughly split 50/50 between our emergency room and our intensive care unit. In the ECC department, you will work alongside our criticalists and experienced emergency clinicians in addition to our wonderful, highly skilled nursing team, including two ECC specialist nurses.
In addition to the state-of-the-art facility with purpose-built emergency room and intensive care unit, we offer viscoelastic testing, high-quality point-of-care ultrasound, an on-site blood bank, and multiple Servo mechanical ventilators. Interns will also have the opportunity to be certified as recover rescuers as we have three Recover certified CPR instructors on our team. Sole charge is not required as part of this program. You will, however, be encouraged to have primary case responsibility to maximize learning and growth during the program. You will also have the opportunity participate in journal club and other didactic opportunities offered both onsite and across the SASH network. This is a full-time, 12-month position with an expected start date of February, 2026.
