The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) is the largest, privately owned network of veterinary hospitals in the Southern Hemisphere, offering multi-disciplinary specialist and emergency services across multiple locations in New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and Western Australia. The Internship:

This internship provides an exceptional opportunity to work alongside experienced specialists and emergency clinicians while delivering high-quality care to patients and their families. Designed as a structured learning program, the internship offers exposure to a diverse caseload, access to advanced diagnostic and imaging technologies, and the support of the wider SASH team.

Within the ECC Department, you will work closely with our Criticalists, experienced Emergency Clinicians, and highly skilled nursing team. Clinical shifts are split between the Emergency Room, Hospital Ward and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), ensuring broad exposure across all aspects of emergency and critical care.

While sole-charge responsibilities are not required as part of this program, you will be encouraged to take responsibility for cases under supervision to maximise your learning, clinical confidence, and professional growth. You will also have opportunities to participate in journal club, ER rounds, and other didactic opportunities offered both onsite and across the wider SASH network.

About You
We are seeking passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic veterinarians with a strong desire to learn and develop their clinical skills in Emergency and Critical Care. This is a challenging and rewarding program that requires adaptability, initiative, and a proactive approach to patient care and professional development.

To be considered, you MUST have:

  • Qualified Veterinarian with a minimum of 2 years' experience
  • Current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW (or eligible to receive)
  • Interest in specialisation and/or further education
  • Have completed a rotating internship (strongly desirable)
